I want to take some time and thank all of you for your prayers and investment in the ministry at UNC. My last newsletter stated a serious challenge we were facing among the men in our ministry. To put it simply many men were not responding to our challenge of Knowing Christ and making Him known. In general recruiting men is typically challenging, however this year seemed to be more challenging. At the beginning of our spring semester the situation among the freshmen seemed very bleak. We had one freshmen guy participating in a Bible Study. What transpired over the following two months was a wonderful reminder that you were praying for the men at UNC. From the one God multiplied into 7 men who are faithfully seeking God and won’t stop inviting more guys. Every week I seem to meet a new freshmen guy who is jumping into a freshmen Bible Study and is eager to pass on who Jesus is to their peers. We are truly blessed to have you praying and fighting for our ministry at UNC. While numbers aren’t everything, each number represents a person, and I am encouraged that God is calling freshmen guys and that they are responding. We have wonderful momentum carrying into next year!
The women in our ministry are wonderful! They faithfully seek God and invite their friends to experience Him. For example, one afternoon I was preparing for a one-to-one appointment for later that day, when a young woman approached me desiring to share the bridge illustration (an illustration we use to share what Jesus did on the cross with students). She was very excited and a little nervous and when I looked past her I noticed one of my student leaders, Sarah, smiling behind her. I found out that Sarah had just taught this young woman the bridge illustration which she was so eager to share with someone that she picked me because she wanted to practice before she shared with her friends. The women’s ministry mirrors what Sarah has done with her friend. They are faithfully getting to know Christ, making him known, and helping others do the same. Please continue to pray for these women as they faithfully lead their peers to Jesus. They are a blessing to our ministry!
There is so much that God is doing in our student’s lives and not enough room to share in a newsletter, so I decided to record students sharing with their peers what they’ve learned and share it with you. The videos are posted on my website:
