We are blessed to have a young ministry at UNC! Sixty five percent of our students are freshmen and sophomores. With a young group of students comes an eagerness to learn and a desire to teach others what they are learning (2 Timothy 2:2). Having such a young crew is very exciting and encouraging. We are seeing many of our students invite their friends, roommates, suitemates, etc. to many of our Bible Studies, weekly meetings, and events. I am encouraged to see a young group of students take ownership of their faith and take ownership of their ministry like Timothy did in Ephesus at a young age!
We are full swing now and are encouraged by what we see God doing on campus. With a young group means we have students that, if developed well, will labor at UNC for 3- 4 years discipling and leading others to Christ. I like the analogy of using college football to illustrate collegiate ministry. If you have a talented young team you may have some hiccups as the players learn together, but give it time and you will have a formidable team. The same is true for collegiate ministry, and we believe that we have a talented group of students!
